Jishnu Bhattacharjee promoted to Managing Director at Nexus Venture PartnersSep 6, 2012 Mumbai
Nexus Venture Partners, India’s leading venture capital fund, has announced the promotion of Jishnu Bhattacharjee to Managing Director. Jishnu is based in Silicon Valley and will continue to help technology companies out of India expand in the US and achieve global leadership.
Jishnu joined Nexus in 2008 after several years of operating experience with technology start-ups and has led various Nexus investments in enterprise, Internet, and mobile technology companies. He is currently on the boards of Vdopia, Druva, GenWi and Unmetric. Previously he was a board member at Gluster (acquired by Red Hat) and a board observer at Cloud.com (acquired by Citrix). Jishnu holds a BTech degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, an MS from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA, Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is also an inventor or co-inventor on more than a dozen US patents.
Naren Gupta, Co-founder, Nexus Venture Partners, said, “Jishnu has been a huge asset to a variety of companies over the last four years. He has helped several entrepreneurs build high-performance teams and significant market traction. He exemplifies the Nexus “entrepreneur first” philosophy. I am very proud to have the opportunity to work with him”.
Anand Babu Periasamy, Co-Founder, Gluster, says, "I am not doing another startup without Jishnu and Nexus.”
Speaking of Jishnu’s involvement, Lakshmanan Narayan, CEO & Founder, Unmetric, says, “Jishnu is the kind of VC you want on your board! Always available when we need something, not bothering with pre-scheduling calls or unnecessary formalities; involved but not over involved. We've tapped into Jishnu and the extended Nexus network for a whole bunch of things - from help with recruitment to initial leads, and regulatory compliance to advisory board formation. We've also held very candid discussions on our goals as a company, future fundraising plans and even issues we've grappled with on messaging and positioning. At all these times, we simply look at the Nexus team as an extension of ours - available whenever we need them, and unobtrusive when we don't.”
In July, Nexus announced two new additions to the Nexus team and opening of an office in Bangalore. In addition to Jishnu, the Nexus investment team includes Anup Gupta, Naren Gupta, Sandeep Singhal, Suvir Sujan, Sameer Verma and Parag Dhanuka.
